mori-art: fanart for the bbc’s sherlock, which is only my newest obsession. haven’t painted using SAI in a long time, or painted realistic portraits, so this was interesting practice. oddly, while i used a few photo references, i didnt base this pic off of any one picture of these two- sherlock was actually done mostly from memory, with only a few checks to get his jaw right. ive looked at his face too much lately trying to figure out how it works! john, on the other hand, was a nightmare- martin freeman’s lovely visage is pretty damn tough to get in the side profile, and since he’s such an everyman, the slightest tweak has him looking…. not like him at all. i got him to look right for a second, and then the slightest touch of purple had him looking like a perfect blend of jake gyllenhaal and george clooney. it still looks a bit off if i look at it too long, but i cant really move my hand anymore, so i’m calling it good. (for now.)  i have cursed martin freeman’s face so fucking much tonight guys but i am pretty proud of this so shameless cross-posting
